ShareDrop.io FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most.

Is ShareDrop.io free?

Yes. It is free to use, with no subscription and no account.

Do I need to install an app or sign up?

No. It runs in a modern browser and needs no account.

Are my files stored on a server?

No. Files move directly between the two devices using WebRTC rather than being stored on a central server.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit set by the tool. Very large files depend on your browser, device memory and connection.

Does it work between iPhone and Windows?

Yes. Any device with a modern browser can connect, whatever its operating system.

How do I send files to someone on another network?

Create a room and share its link. They open it in their browser and appear in your room.

Is it safe?

Transfers use encrypted WebRTC connections. Only share room links with people you trust and use the official website.

Why will my devices not find each other?

Usually they are on different networks, a VPN is on, or a guest network blocks device discovery. See the troubleshooting page.

Is this site the official ShareDrop.io?

No. ShareDrop Hub is an independent guide. The official tool is at sharedrop.io.
