Nearby sharing on the same Wi-Fi

Open ShareDrop.io on two devices that share a network and they show up on each other's screen.

How nearby sharing works

Devices that connect to the same router appear automatically. There is nothing to type and nothing to pair. Click the device you want, choose your files, and the other person accepts.

Why it is fast

On one Wi-Fi network the data can stay on your local network instead of going out to the internet and back. That is useful for large videos and photo sets.

If a device does not appear

• Check that both devices are really on the same network, not one on Wi-Fi and one on mobile data.
• Turn off VPNs on both devices.
• Guest networks and some office or school networks isolate devices from each other. Try another network or use a room.
• Refresh both pages and keep both tabs open.
